If you plan to use your skateboard to compete in the extreme games like going down a plank, down on a hill and on fast speed, you would need more head protection. These types of skateboarders would need helmets that cover the face fully, front and back to be exact in case you get into accidental slips and bumps.

* Just for skateboarding? It is common to see people use helmets for different occasions. You will find that there are some motorcycle bikers who use bike helmets instead of the directed motorcycle helmets. What people should know is that these helmets are designed specifically for these different types of activity as they have specific features and functions particularly designed for each type. In this relation, you should be able to purchase a skateboard helmet and not any other helmet when you go skateboard gear shopping. Do not use a bicycle helmet for skateboarding. Skateboard helmets have soft lining that enable them to fit snugly to your head and are made from material that can absorb and protect you from multiple impacts. Bicycle helmets on the other may be harder but can only afford to take in one impact at a time. There are however, helmets that can be used for both skateboarding and bicycling that are available in the market nowadays. Just be sure to read the label and follow what these helmets are designed and certified for. It may be the very one to shield your head and you from danger.
