Three Skateboarding Safety Gear That You Should Have
When you are into skateboarding, you should always have a pair of protective gear that you can use. Whether you're a beginner or a professional skateboarder, you're still going to need the best possible protective gear that you can use without sacrificing your performance. So what protective gear should you be thinking about using? Well, it doesn't take a genius to figure that one out. For one thing, you're going to need to protect all those important joints and other things.
1. Always have on a helmet when skateboarding, always!
Always! What would it take for people to actually follow this all the time? Their mothers? Your head is definitely something that you wouldn't want to break. Skateboarding without a helmet on would definitely increase your chances of life threatening injuries and perhaps even paralysis. Having a helmet on might spell the difference between a cracked skull and a bump in the head. Or perhaps a concussion between a coma. Even if people might say that you're hard headed, it's definitely not enough to protect yourself from injury. Even athletes in other sports use helmets. Football stars, race car drivers, and even hockey players use them.
2. Elbow pads, you need them more than you think you do.
Elbow pads are made for you to errr protect your elbows. If you suffer a really bad crash after you attempt to do some really awesome trick there is a very high chance of you landing in some way that might cause you to break your arms and some bones in the process. Your elbows, might be considered as a potential weak spot in your arm since it's simply a joint that connects your forearm to your upper arm. Breaking a wrist or a leg sure is a lot of pain, but breaking your elbow on the other hand might be one of the most excruciating things that you might feel in your entire life. Imagine having an arm that you will be unable to move from the elbow down since it might possibly be dislocated. That's like trying to bend a bendy straw that might break at any time.
3. Knee pads, definitely.
You see it in the X-Games all the time, if athletes are unable to perform their tricks correctly or if they are unable to land their trick successfully, they come sliding down the vert knees first. Imagine doing that without some knee pads on. You might not want to do that anymore don't you think? And that's not even the half of it. Falling knees first without knee pads might cause some devastating blows to your knees. You most definitely don't want to have broken knees, or just even a broken knee at that. Think of them as your knee's helmet. Our body is quite fragile, without the proper protection, our bodies would get twisted and broken through injuries quite faster than you think. Since skateboards don't have the luxury of seatbelts or airbags, you just have to make do with some pads.
