Why Your Skateboard Quality Affects Your Safety
In any other sport, the quality of the things that you use is tantamount to your performance and your safety. Imagine a car with no seatbelts, or bungee jumping with a bungee cord that is faulty. Once the quality of your equipment is really bad, all those things about safety go right out the window.
No matter how careful or meticulous you are about what you do, mechanical failure can't be avoided when the equipment you have is not faulty. Although there have been some international standards for quality that have been put into place, you still can't help but wonder if the manufacturer of your board actually meets the standards it must live up to.
1. When you're performing an out of this world trick and your board gives up on you, better cross your fingers.
What happens if your board breaks in half or one of your wheels or bearings break off? Would you want to be in a situation like that? Of course not. Riders need to know how important and how imperative it is to have the best board possible. Why? It's because you can't keep worrying about your board failing on you in the midst of performing a trick.
What happens after your board fails could result to two things. One, you could injure yourself when you get back on the ground. And two, you might be lucky enough to end up unscathed. But not everybody has lady luck's favor with them all the time. So don't take any chances.
2. If you're using an unreliable board, better not use it at all.
Can you actually imagine yourself using something that you can't trust? Think about it. Will you be willing to fly an airplane that has an 80% failure rate? That's like a one way ticket to heaven once you take off on that. Sure skateboards aren't like airplanes, but it's the same idea. You wouldn't want to use something that might fail on you at any time.
3. Depending on the material used, it might not be advisable to be used on skateboards.
Having a good skateboard means that it can deliver the performance that you expect from it. It has to support your weight. It has to deliver in terms of performance, grip, and every other aspect that affects skateboard performance. It's just like using a monobloc chair and a wooden chair. It's fairly obvious that a wooden chair would be quite stronger considering the fact that it was manufactured well. Your skateboard will fall subject to this very same concept. A stronger material would definitely mean that it would be a more reliable skateboard than that of inferior ones.
4. A good set of skateboard wheels and trucks must also be considered.
You don't need to worry about skateboard wheels going flat on you. What you need to worry about is that will these things jam up on you at some point in time. If they do, you might find yourself lying face flat on the floor.
