Why Having The Right Skate Shoes Is Important For Skateboarders
As to any sport, the right type of shoes for the right athlete must always be taken into consideration. So many things come into mind when looking for the right shoe. There are issues on comfort, grip, size, shape, and even the weight. So why skateboarding? And why even bother about thinking up of the right pair of skateboard shoes for you to use?
Well, take this situation for instance. Would you wear a pair of Air Force Ones to your own wedding ceremony? Or would an astronaut have on a pair of flip-flops the next time they decide to have another moonwalk?
1. For safety reasons, your ankle needs every bit of protection as you would.
Well, it goes the same as to any other sport that utilizes the use of your feet. You do not have to run like the wind or do what Kobe Bryant or Eli Manning does for you to protect your ankles. Even everyday normal skaters like your and your buddies need the best ankle protection and support that they can get. Why? It's so that you will reduce the risk of injury that you would bring to your ankles.
Twisting your foot in an ugly fall is excruciating and an inconvenience for you. You won't be able to walk for a couple of weeks depending on the gravity of your injury. And of course, you would have to be sidelined from skating for quite a while.
2. The grip of your shoe's sole on your board is also very important.
Think of it as your car tire's grip on the road. If you want to have good control of your board, you're going to need a good and steady grip with the help of your shoes of course. Being able to perform those flashy tricks means that you must know how to use your feet well in order to execute your trick of choice correctly.
If you were a weight trainer, it will be just like your weight training gloves. You wouldn't want the bar you're using to slip on you once your hands might get sweaty. And quite similarly, you wouldn't want your board to slip on you once you execute those flashy tricks. For one thing, it'll make you look bad in front of those girls that might have possibly been checking you out. And secondly, it's for your own good you know – for safety reasons.
3. You could hurt yourself badly if you don't have the right shoes on.
In fact, it doesn't have to be the best looking pair of shoes out there on the market. As long as you have skate shoes on when you're skateboarding, that would spell the difference between a nasty injury and a big smile on your face. Skating without shoes is also a very, very bad idea. Don't even try getting on your skateboard if you don't have any shoes on. And flip-flops and sandals aren't an excuse as well.
