Dressing And Gearing Up For Skateboarding
Superb music, cool clothes and freakish skating skills would essentially create an excellent and above standard skater. It is very vital to have cool and appropriate clothes coupled with fast paced music to impress the judges when you are at skating competitions.
Choosing your clothes and getup for skateboarding is not as easy as picking clothes for a basketball game or for formal occasions. You have to wear the appropriate safety gear plus cool clothes at the same time.
Now what are those clothes that are recommended for skateboarding? You can wear nothing or be naked while skating just like the guys in Jackass or Wildboyz, but it could often be inappropriate in several areas or certain events. Try to read this article so that you would know on how to dress and gear up for skateboarding competitions or events.
1. Shirt. For skaters, a tight and small shirt should always be worn. Loose shirts could provide distraction and could minimize your upper body moves, which is why it is vital to wear tight and smaller shirts. Wear skating shirts such as those of Vans, Spitfire and Anti-hero or you could also wear shirts that have old school rock band logos like ACDC, Metallica, Led Zeppelin and Nirvana.
Also, dark colors such as black are much more preferable to wear. You can also wear nothing or be topless during skateboarding but just make sure that you won't look dull with it. You might be too skinny or too fat to be topless.
2. Jeans or shorts. You can wear baggy pants or slim and tight jeans; it depends on what theme or look you want to achieve. If you prefer the old school skater, it would be much recommended to wear cargo shorts or tight jeans. You could also wear baggy pants if you want to look like a hip hop skater.
3. Sneakers or shoes. Most skating shoes are puffy and wide in shape for safety reasons for your feet. However, some of the experienced skaters would wear branded sneakers rather than those skating shoes. Some of these sneakers would often look like skating shoes; these would only differ in size and material. Also try to avoid wearing boots or sandals at such activities.
4. Accessories. Wear a baseball cap (worn backwards), spikes, necklaces, rings and bracelets with a skull logo to provide a better skater look. There are some accessories that would give you that bad boy image. Try accessorizing more but remember to wear only the accessories that wouldn't affect or bother your skating performance. It is great to look cool while skating but also remember to do your best and perform well.
5. Jackets, hoods or any outerwear. Having such would provide a better appearance to your overall look. Hoods can provide the mysterious or the urban skater look while jackets and sweatshirts can provide the old school skater look.
6. Protection equipments. It may sound odd but having the appropriate protective gear would also provide more color and a better look when you are skating. However, you should choose those gears that contain logos and colors that would virtually match with your overall attire.
